============I. April 9-10, 2006============In a following email after the one he received a few days back, he was on a temporary assignment to look over a certain meeting that was to take place in a classified location. When he arrived at the oblation in UP, he entered Quezon hall and turned left inside the building. He went down a flight of stairs until he reached a heavily guarded checkpoint. "Who're you?" asked one of the guards, cocking his heavily modified m16 carbine rifle. Jose offered no response other than handing over his ID. They took one look at it and then immediately stood at attention. One of them opened a box and said, "Sir, complementary shades sir, for secrecy and security. No other agency needs to know who you are or where you're from." Jose took one and entered the heavily guarded door.
He donned the shades and stepped into what looked like a huge circular corridor. On one side of it were unmarked doors which were guarded by men in suits and guns. A nearby steward approached him and asked for his agency. Jose showed him his ID and the man led him down the corridor. After awhile, he halted and opened a door and pointed him in. Jose thanked him and entered.
Inside was a small room with a huge glass window on the otherside of the door. Several people were already seated. As he looked through the glass, he saw other glasses such as this. The rooms were arranged in a semi-circle enclosing another room which contained a small podium, an overhead projector and an overlayed map of Metro Manila. Apparently, each agency which attended this meeting had a room like this to themselves. The guards they posted were their own and they were awaiting for something.
But now, the people who were in the M.A.G.I.S. room now realized who had come in and came forward to greet him. The first person Jose recognized was the M.A.G.I.S. Main Director, Internal Director, Public Relations Director, Financial Director, Safety Precautionary Director Operations manager. Of these, only the talk between Jose and the Operations Manager matter to us of the moment (because i say so. XP)
"Jose! Glad you could make it!"
" 'Course. Didn't really have much to do anyway."
"Right...right... Anyway, I called you here for two reasons. The first is because later on in the meeting, the matter of the agency we trust you to protect. The second is because I think there is a spy in the meeting and therefore this meeting might be cut short. But then again, meetings as large as this really attract unwanted attention."
"And it will be starting....?"
"Soon. Just waiting for the presider of the meeting to get things in order and started. Also there might be some other agencies that are present."
"Who are the other agencies present?"
"We're not sure about that because its all kept in secrecy. But I suppose that the IT-DSD and the MIC are here. In the meantime, have a seat here."
"No thanks, I'll stand."
Shortly after, a man wearing shades entered the podium and called all the agencies to order.
"I see that we are all here, with the exception for one agency. But we will go on anyway for time grows short. Our agenda for today's meeting are the following." An outline appeared on the OP. it was as follows:
The behavioral status of today's youth
Economical status of the Philippines
Recent scientifical findings
The Parametrical Society for Human Sciences
"And so, we shall now start..." began the presider. Jose did not listen more. He didnt like long lectures. But then again, what kid of 14 does? He excused himself to the Directors and stepped out the room.
Outside was a different case. It was filled with chaos and anarchy. Alarms were flashing, silent, but noticeable. The guards outside each room were in a defensive position while agents and other guards were rushing through the corridor. He asked one of the MAGIS guards what the situation was.
“Sir! We have a breach in sector 4! A subterrainean APC came down to level 2 and blasted open a section of wall in sector 4. Whether it’s a single man or a whole troop, they’ve managed to escape detection so far as the agents here haven’t been able to find them.” “Is that so? Well, which way is sector 4?” “From what we’ve heard, its one stair up, then along the east wing of that floor.” “Right. I best get going.”
Jose joined the throng of agents towards the second floor when he saw a door labeled, “Armory”. Jose slipped inside and looked around. There were the standard carbines stacked in rows on one side, and sidearms stacked in the corner. He looked around and grabbed two deagles and pocketed them. He stepped outside and then thought.
“Well, I can’t really expect to be any help in sector 4, there would be too many agents that could do what I would do there. But instead, maybe I should think of what they could be after. Well, aside from being after the top officials in the meeting, maybe there’s something else they’re after? Think Jose! UP’s Quezon Hall is, aside from being a gathering place, it is also sometimes used as a docking place before it’s being sent off. Is there an information room somewhere here?” Jose ran along the corridor until he saw a signpost.
“Let’s see…level 3 is where I am, the conference room. Level 2…where they entered…that’s the service room…and level 1…aha! The overseer deck!.” Jose ran out of the room and climbed two flights of stair up. When he got there, he turned left until he came to the overseer deck. He entered its double doors and looked into the room. It was filled with operators, agents and the like. There was also a man who seemed to be a head who was barking orders to the men. “COME ON! WE WANT THOSE INTRUDERS FOUND! CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY WE CAN’T DETECT THEM?” “Sir! We’re really sorry…we can’t-” “I DON’T WANT FUCKING EXCUSES! I WANT RESULTS!”
Jose stepped forward and said, “Perhaps sir, I can be of help.” “Who the bloody hell are you? MAYBE YOU’RE THE INTRUDER!!!” “Sir, I am a MAGIS agent and I have information that may help you if you want it.” “Well, let’s here it.” “Do you have a list of the current cargo and/or goods that are docked within this hall?” “THOMAS, PULL UP THE DATA FOR TODAY’S DOCKING USE!!!” “Yes sir.”
Jose studied the information for awhile and said, “Sir, the intruder maybe after the cargo of trans-uranium filled rocket pods on level 4a. They could want to blow it up and use it to disrupt the meeting. Or they could be after the new data chips that are in your storage holds on sector 7, but that’d be lame. The rocket pods seem viable as they’re directly beneath level 3. They wouldn’t dare enter level 3 because it’s got the best agents guarding it.”
At that moment, a techy cried, “Sir! We have boogey on level 4, sector 5!” The overseer turned to Jose and said, “Son, you just hit the mark.” To the rest he said, “Alright techies, tell half the men we have to tighten security around level 4! Put level 4a on lockdown and order a sweep on that floor!” Jose slipped out the room and pondered a moment.
“Wait a minute…they just said that they couldn’t detect them…and they showed up exactly in Level 4 just as I guessed…which means that the expect someone of my level of thinking to say that…which means that their main target is…” Jose didn’t complete the thought. He pulled out a deagle and rushed down towards the stairs. He peered down and saw black clad figure. “STOP!” shouted Jose, aiming for the body.
The body stared at Jose then threw down a smoke bomb, then escaping through the fog. Through it all Jose dropped to the floor for a better view. He rolled down the stairs to level 3 after the figure. When he got out of the staircase, he saw the figure more clearly. It seemed to be a person who was in some sorta modern ninja suit. And whatever that person was, it held a sub machine gun and it was aimed for Jose.
“OH SHI-” *BANG* Jose rolled to the side and fired two responding shots. An excellent marksman as he was, he couldn’t hit him. Jose then gave chase. Whoever the “ninja” was, he was good. He ran with ease, just keeping out of the sight of Jose along the circular corridors. The guards couldn’t even shoot him. “STOP HIM! STOP HIM!” cried Jose. But they just couldn’t. A brave attempt of one guard was to bodily halt the ninja. But the ninja flawlessly tipped him over to one side with a sweep of a foot and a punch to the face. However, that was all that was needed for Jose to catch up to him.
Jose jumped over the ninja and toppled him down. The ninja used the momentum to roll over again to stand up. From there, he got up on his feet and pulled out the sub machinegun. Jose kicked the gun out of his hands and tried to lock the ninja’s arms. He succeeded in doing so. But the ninja somehow slipped behind him and reversed it. It was done so fast that none of the guards could’ve done anything about it. And when they could, Jose was locked with his hands behind him and the ninja pointing Jose’s own gun at him.
“Don’t move!” said an obviously computerized garbled voice. “I demand safe passage out of here, back to my APC.” “Yeah sure…like they’d really give it to you…” “Shut up. It’s not like you can do anything about that.” “Wanna bet?” Jose sidestepped, elbowed to the solar plexus, stepped on the instep, turned around, punched the nose bridge and placed a kick to the groin. The ninja fell to the ground, withering in pain. “It seems I won the bet.” “Not…quite…” said the ninja, letting another smoke bomb fall out of his hand. It exploded with a bang and filled the air with smoke. As the guards coughed Jose held his breathe, closed his eyes and blindly made his way towards level 3. There, there was also a commotion, which was caused by another smoke bomb. Jose then heard the whir of the drill of a subterrainean APC and that was the end of the assault.
**********a few hours later**********Jose was outside the Quezon hall, staring out in the open. The MAGIS operations manager went out to him and said, “I heard what happened back there. And what you did. After a large group of intruders came into level 4, you took care of the rogue one in level 3. But sadly, he got away.” “Don’t mock me. And it’s even worse because….it’s not a he. It’s a she.
